What is Urinary Incontinence?

Urinary incontinence is an involuntary loss / leakage of urine from the bladder. Urinary incontinence can have a variety of causes.
Women experience this condition twice as often as men.

Procedure offered at Cottage Hospital to treat this condition in women:

Urethral Vaginal Sling
There are several options to address incontinence. A consultation with a Urologist will help decide the best option for each individual. One option could be a urethral vaginal sling. This is a surgical procedure done under anesthesia to correct urinary incontinence in females by supporting the urethra (the tube that drains the bladder) with a strong piece of material that acts as a sling. This is a same day procedure that is performed by our Urologist, Dr. Richard Caesar. Recovery times vary.
